| Featured Artist: Grace Chen My Background: I worked in multimedia and internet for 8 years,
worked on a CDROMS, games, online sites. I was designer and later
an art director. Just recently I decided to become a freelancer
because I wanted to see how far I can take my personal style.
I also like the idea of freelancing and being able to do different
things. My Technique: I carry a tiny sketchbook with me, since my best
ideas usually comes to me when I'm in motion, like when I'm driving
or walking. Based on the sketch, I draw the final version directly
on computer in Flash or Illustrator. I also use visual references
sometimes...so my technique is pretty simple. My Involvement in the Guild: I was in Peep Show. I got
to know other illustrators and see how different artists present
their work and also got some contacts. The Guild has also been
helpful in providing me with professional knowledge. Thanks, Guild! My Favorite Client story: Hmmmé since I just started, I hadn't
have a significant one. But I do have an interesting story from
my working days. It involves having a company off-site meeting
at Orr Hot Springs. Basically, I don't recommend it. It's
not the most conducive for brain-storming. All artwork © 2002 Grace Chen. Not to be used without permission.
