Featured Artist: Jeff Fohl My background: I started out as an illustrator. In 1991 I graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in illustration. Some of my first gigs were doing storyboards for theatres and video productions here in San Francisco. Then, when the "multi-media" craze hit San Francisco, I got involved in CD-ROM development. At the same time, I was starting to do more commercial illustration for clients like Fast Company magazine, the Chicago Tribune, Washington Post, PC Magazine, and a host of technology industry magazines. Eventually, I stopped freelancing for agencies altogether, and went solo to found fohldesign, which I am still doing. Over the years, fohldesign has evolved into what I call interactive branding - or simply how branding is implemented in the interactive, electronic world. This involves many things such as building a brand for an organization from the ground up, designing and implementing websites, or stand alone applications distributed on CD-ROM or kiosk. In addition, I still maintain a healthy amount of print work, which is always gratifying after spending too much time in the virtual world. Some of my latest clients include NTT/Verio, Taos, Epylon (a subsidiary of Accenture), and Cerco Medical. In my spare time, I am involved with a local arts organization, where I serve as a board member, photographer, and videographer. Besides all of this, I also pursue artistic paths utilizing photography and cinematography. Images at right, from top to bottom:
