| Featured Artist: Matt Frederick My Background: I'm a traditionally trained fine artist
who was fortunate enough to discover Graphic Design, and have
been blessed with a bit of natural ability. I graduated in '96
from CSUS with
a degree in fine art. During my time there I focused primarily
on figurative and conceptual painting and figurative sculpture
in steel and stone. I discovered Design while working in the marketing department
of a global footwear company, and spent the first
few years of my career there, later moving on to an advertising
agency
during
the dot bomb era, then a role as Art Director at a software firm
for a couple of years. When that company folded it was time that
I started my design business, and haven't looked back. Today I serve a wide range of clients in my local area, including
the Almond Board of California, Prudential California Realty,
and other businesses throughout
the Central Valley. My Technique: I work in a very wide range of mediums and styles.
Most everything begins in my sketch book. Here's the short list.
Print design
Illustration - technical and stylized
Logo design and branding
Web design
Interactive Flash CD Design
Photography
My Involvement in the Guild: I'm a fairly new member of just
over a year or so. I'm currently the NorCal Chapter webmaster.
I've been pretty active in my local arts community, running a
site named Digart209 for a couple years where designers gathered
online, today I'm an active member in the Bancroft
Syndicate. To see what else I've been up to, visit my personal
site at theMirrorpool.com. My Favorite Client story: Some time you'll have to ask me about
"Mexican Money Month". Its by no means my favorite story, but
it is entertaining...
