| Featured Artist: Rhoda Grossman My Background:I'm a self-taught cartoonist and humorous illustrator.
I do fine art figure drawing, my specialty being "Zaftig"
women. I gradually switched to digital media beginning in 1990. My Technique: I use Adobe Photoshop and MetaCreations Painter
for both illustration and fine art. Typically, I start with photographs
and create a collage in Photoshop. Then I switch to Painter for
special effects and finishing touches. My Involvement in the Guild: I joined the Guild when my battle
with the California Board of Equalization became too much for
me to handle alone. I am committed to working for reform in sales
tax regulations as applied to artists. My Favorite Client story: Best client ever...Pacific Telesis
employee newsletter. Funny, friendly folks who had me do a humorous
spot for their publication a couple times a month for about 10
years. In the early days, I was doing pen-and-ink with acetate
overlay for the second color. When I was ready to experiment with
digital submissions they were willing to work with me until we
got it right. Recently the whole department was eliminated due
to a merger. That made me realize once again that "job security"
is an oxymoron. All artwork © 2002 Rhoda Grossman. Not to be used without
