Featured Artist: Steve Lyons

My Background: Living in the San Francisco Bay Area, Steven Lyons didn't begin his career surrounded by fog and redwoods. It all started in the academic world of fine-art printmaking, studying at the University of New Hampshire with Sigmund Abeles. In the early 80s he embraced the Macintosh and began a voyage of discovery into the pixelated realm of digital illustration. His work has graced the pages of many juried annuals, including American Illustration, Communication Arts and PRINT's Regional Design Annual. He has created images for many of the high-tech giants including IBM, Intel, Sun and Apple. His editorial illustrations have appeared in Newsweek, The Washington Post, Rolling Stone and The Wall Street Journal.

My Technique: Draw, Draw, Draw, Scan, Finish on Computer, Done

My involvement with the Guild: I was drawn to the Guild a few years ago by their incredible work on sales tax issues in California. Right now I am donating some time to create a few animated web banners for the Guild.
